My disaster prepping involves drawing up plans to establish a defensible island of sanity in the Pacific Northwest. Adjacent farmlands are fertile and if not wasted growing commercial crops can generate abundant calories. Water in the coastal Pacific Northwest is not a problem. Solar panels and hydropower provide electricity for air conditioning. Lots of space for more people if you don't sprawl them out.
Nobody makes TV shows about that kind of disaster prepping, though - despite there being literal successful examples all around the world. And there will be climate refuges to house all you climate refugees from the South, science is clear on that.
Would undercut the profitable sense of learned helplessness American suburbanites are trained into at school. Much easier to get people to buy feel-good BS solutions to carbon pollution that don't address the core problems.
